Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We were 2 families (total of 10) and we stayed comfortably in the 5 bedroom villa. It is a bit cold at night, but there are heaters and heating blankets in each room, and as well a cozy coal burner in the living room. Our villa required a 300 meter hike up a steep hill, but the staff helped with luggage via motorbike and can ride you up if you need. The homestay was ideal to get a good feel of the life and culture among the locals. We loved the property's restaurants and other local cafe, bars and merchants along the town. The staff was very accommodating. Be sure that if you have a big bus or equivalent size vehicle that your driver can get you to the homestay. Our driver (29-seaters) was not local, drove us from Hanoi through Sapa and was very cautious as a nervous, thus, went slow. Then he decided that he wasn't comfortable driving the rest of 3km on the narrow road. That was very frustrating, esp after being on the bus for over 7hrs by that time. The homestay had their staff ordered and paid local taxi and motorbikes to get us to their homestay. That was very nice and extra.
